Try Liquid Glass in Play
v3.26.0
·
June 20
v1 of Liquid Glass & Updated Native Elements
Before You Use This Version!
The Liquid Glass version of Play is a Beta version, which is using Apple’s new iOS 26 Liquid Glass updates—which are also in Beta! We recommend to not open or update any of your existing projects in this version.
How to Install
In order to use the Liquid Glass version of Play you will need to:
Install Tahoe (macOS 26) on your desktop & iOS 26 on your iPhone.
Install Play for macOS & iOS. Get access here.
Sign in with your existing Play credentials.
Overview
Watch the tutorial below to get a first look at the new Liquid Glass effect in Play Beta. This video walks you through the latest features, including the Glass Container element, updated UI for Native Elements, new SF Symbol animations, and enhancements to Sheets.
What's in this Update
Liquid Glass Material

Adds support for the new Glass Effect:
Tint Color
Interactivity (whether it reacts to user input or not)
User Interface Style (light, dark, auto)
Vibrancy (if a child node is using a supported color)
Glass Effect Container

We have created a new "container style" element in Play, which works similar to a Z Stack.
When the children inside a Glass Effect Container touch one another, their shapes will morph using the Liquid Glass Effect. The children need to have the Liquid Glass material turned on in order for this to work.
Nav Bar
New button layout and tint color support; separators adapt to Liquid Glass style
Progressive blur style by default when Blur is set to "Default" on Nav Bar Settings
When another a page is presented (using Native Go to Page), it can be dismissed by swiping left to right anywhere on the screen, not just on the left edge.
Tab Bar

New UI and selection interaction supported. Precise height of the tab bar is a WIP.
Some of the new features, such as UITabBarMinimizeBehavior and UITabBarAccessory, will require the addition of UITabBarController, which will be in a future update.
New Elements & Controls
All the native elements & controls got a refresh in iOS 26, but the following have Liquid Glass updates as well:
Native Button: Adds supports for Glass and Prominent Glass as button styles. These use Glass Material to conform with Liquid Glass.
Slider
Switch
Segmented Control
Menus
Alerts
Sheets
New SF Symbols
We’ve included 471 new SF Symbols, 2 new properties (Gradients & Variable Value Mode), and two new effects (Draw On and Draw Off).

How to Revert Back to the Current Version of Play
To revert back to the "non-Liquid Glass" version of Play, install the latest version from here.
Apple Videos & Documentation
We recommend watching Apple’s videos and reading their documentation on how to best utilize the new updates coming to iOS 26.
