About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and dynamic Director of Product Marketing, reporting to the Co-Founder & Co-CEO. You will join us at a crucial time as we prepare to launch our macOS product and updated iOS product. Your role will be instrumental in increasing product awareness and engagement through engaging content distributed on social media. You will play an impactful role in the business by driving top-of-funnel growth, improving user activation, onboarding, retention, and most importantly, help launch our first paid tier.

We value autonomy, creativity, and a passion for delivering a seamless user experience. As the Director of Product Marketing, you have a unique opportunity to shape what product marketing at Play is and directly impact the design tooling space and Play’s success in the market.

  1. Lead Play’s product marketing strategies and tactics to help drive qualified leads and user acquisition.

  2. Proactively engage with users weekly, collecting valuable feedback to understand both the pain points our product addresses and those we can improve upon, fostering an intimate understanding of our user's needs and desires.

  3. Leverage both qualitative and quantitative data to derive actionable insights. Utilize market research, user feedback, and other data sources to make informed decisions that drive product awareness, engagement, and retention.

  4. Deliver regular updates to leadership on KPIs and metrics, and develop action plans based on findings.

  5. Create a roadmap of creative campaigns and experiments that drive the growth of our sign-ups and weekly active users over time.

  6. Monitor and analyze the performance of campaigns and user acquisition experiments, communicating insights, and reporting the progress to senior leadership.

  7. Increase brand awareness through partnerships with influencers and third parties who run design communities.

  8. Drive growth by working with our Design Advocates, Product, and leadership team in creating and running digital events (live streams, webinars).

  9. Assist with leading the onboarding experience for new users, ensuring quick understanding of and success with the product.

  1. 5+ years in a Product Marketing role, ideally within an early-stage startup environment.

  2. Experience in running creative acquisition campaigns across channels.

  3. Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to convey complex product concepts in a clear and engaging manner.

  4. Track record of successfully working cross-functionally within a growing organization, gathering feedback from and sharing with multiple stakeholders.

  5. Enjoy working closely with cross-functional teams to create inspiring messaging for specific audiences that translate into new sign-ups and active users.

  6. A background or interest in the design community or design tooling space is a must.

  7. Apple ecosystem knowledge, design and/or development software background is a plus.

  8. Highly organzied, detail oriented and structured, but flexible enough to work in a fast-paced, exciting startup where things change!

  9. An understanding of what it means to be a good teammate—and the ability to put that understanding into practice
